Gymnasium
Our full gymnasium is a hub for movement, teamwork, and fun! Students develop strength, coordination, and healthy habits through games, sports, and fitness activities. Physical education classes help children build confidence while learning to cooperate and challenge themselves. It’s a place where energy meets learning every day.
Auditorium
Students perform in musicals, engage in enrichment programs like Ballroom Dancing or athletic boxing, and attend school celebrations in this community gathering space. It is here that students and staff can take center stage to share their talents with the PS 198 community. It’s also a space for graduation ceremonies, special events, and moments of school-wide joy.
Playground/Yard
Our playground and yard provide a safe, vibrant space for outdoor play and exploration. Children run, climb, and rock out to music at recess while building social skills and friendships. From organized games to free play, this space encourages creativity and movement.
Art Studio
In our art studio, students unleash their creativity and express themselves through a variety of media. Whether through painting, drawing or collage, children experiment, take risks, and bring their ideas to life.
Music Room
The music room is alive with rhythm, melody, and song! Students learn instruments, vocal skills, and musical theory while collaborating on performances and instrumental ensembles. Every note is an opportunity to explore and celebrate the power of connection and community through sound.
Technology/Media Lab
Our Media Lab gives students hands-on experience with iMacs and iPads, exploring digital tools in fun and creative ways. Through activities like coding and projects that connect their interests with research tools, children build 21st-century skills while learning to navigate technology safely and responsibly.
Science Room
The science room is a place of discovery, experimentation, and wonder. Students conduct hands-on experiments, explore natural phenomena, and ask questions like real scientists. Lessons encourage curiosity and critical thinking, and Honey, our bearded dragon often joins in, bringing a fun, living example of science to life. Every experiment sparks excitement and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
Inner Courtyard
The Inner Courtyard is an outdoor gathering space where learning, community, and celebration come together. Students participate in outdoor activities or lessons and special enrichment experiences in this beautiful setting. The courtyard also serves as a welcoming venue for family events, school celebrations, and community gatherings, creating opportunities for students, staff, and families to connect, learn, and make lasting memories together.
Cafeteria
The Cafeteria is more than just a place to enjoy breakfast and lunch. Our kitchen staff gets to know our students and their food preferences, ensuring that all children find something nourishing to fill them for the work of their school day. In this space, students gather, connect with friends, and build a sense of belonging. Throughout the year, the cafeteria hosts special events, family celebrations, and school-wide activities that bring the PS 198 community together. Students experience the warmth and community spirit that make PS 198 feel like home.
