Pre-K Admissions
In New York City, your child can enroll in pre-kindergarten in September of the calendar year they turn 4. We currently offer one full day (6 hour, 20 minutes) Pre-K ICT class. For enrollment information, please visit https://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/PreK/default.htm.
The NYCDOE’s Pre-K for All homepage is where you can access the full Pre-K directory. Please do not call or email the school directly. Pre-K is a lottery-based program, and families must apply for admissions through NYCPS, not with the school.
Kindergarten Admissions
Children can start kindergarten in the calendar year they turn five. Typically, zoned students will receive a seat in our program. To secure a seat for September of each calendar year, you must go through the kindergarten application process. Families must register for that process through NYCPS, not with the school. Zoned Students, Grades 1-5

Zoned students in Grades 1–5 may enroll without an application. Zoned families may email our Parent Coordinator, Raychel Manko Baldeon (rmanko@schools.nyc.gov) to set up a registration appointment.
Gifted and Talented (G&T) Admissions
PS 198 also offers a Gifted and Talented (G&T) class on every grade level (K-5th). Students must apply and be offered a seat at our school for this program. ​G&T placement offers are made in the spring, and families will be contacted by the school in the order listed on the centrally generated waiting list. Please note, we do not have the ability to change a child’s spot on the waiting list.
